10-week-old ‘Willow’ joins Indian River Co. Sheriff’s Office as newest K-9 member
On May 4, the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office introduced the newest and the youngest member of their law enforcement family when 10-week-old Willow joined their K-9 ranks. Deputy Brian Reimsnyder will be her full-time handler and will also be in charge of her search and rescue training. Willow comes from a long line of law enforcement search and rescue bloodhounds.
The sheriff’s office expressed their gratitude to the Jimmy Ryce Center for donating the funds for the purchase of Willow and also thanked Judy Braun of Bluegrass Bloodhounds for providing the department with their newest K-9 member officer.
After Willow successfully completes her training period, the sheriff office’s current search and rescue bloodhound, Dixie, will retire. Dixie came to Deputy Reimsnyder at four-months-old and has been an honored and valued K-9 team member for the last 12 years.
Upon her retirement, Dixie will live with Deputy Reimsnyder and his family.
Congratulations on your retirement Dixie! Welcome Willow!
