Just hours ago, Florida’s Volusia Sheriff’s Office (VSO) announced that one of the drug dealers arrested during last summer’s “Operation Wild ‘N Out” has now been hit with a new charge of manslaughter in the fentanyl overdose death of one of her customers in DeBary.

Madeline Zinno, 21, of Palm Coast, has been in custody in the Volusia County Branch Jail since June, when she was one of more than three dozen suspects arrested during the dismantling of a major fentanyl, heroin, meth and cocaine trafficking ring.  Back on June 28, Madeline was charged with conspiracy to traffic in methamphetamine 28 grams or more.

Meanwhile, the VSO Overdose Task Force was continuing to investigate the May 22 overdose death of a 43-year-old man. Detectives located social media communications between the deceased and his dealer, and eventually were able to positively identify Zinno as the person who sold him drugs the night he died.

The investigation led to a witness who was present for the sale and was able to describe exactly how Zinno’s drugs were packaged and labeled, which matched the evidence found at the scene of the overdose death.

Detectives also gathered text, social media, and cell phone data proving Zinno sold the lethal dose of fentanyl.  Madeline Zinno was charged with manslaughter on Tuesday at the jail, where she was already in custody and will remain held with no bond.
