On August 2, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office reported that they made an arrest in an earlier reported road rage incident that led to a shooting. Deputies were put in touch with their suspect when he was arrested Friday afternoon during a traffic stop in the Glen Burnie, Maryland, area.

MacKinley Carlos Williams, Jr., 38, of Glen Burnie was charged in connection to an earlier shooting.

On Sunday, July 26 at approximately 4:35 p.m., HCSO deputies responded to the area of Willoughby Beach Road and Oak Street in Edgewood for the report of gunfire in the area. Upon arrival, the officers located a gray Acura with a single occupant. The occupant informed deputies that an unknown male in another vehicle shot at him following a road rage incident.

The victim suffered cuts and abrasions and was treated by medics at the scene for injuries unrelated to gunfire.

Deputies determined that the victim was traveling on Willoughby Beach Road when the driver was passed by two vehicles who began gesturing and taunting the victim. The victim followed the two vehicles to Flying Point Park. At the park, a verbal altercation ensued between the victim and a male, when the unknown male, later identified as Williams, challenged the victim to a fight and told the victim to follow him before driving away.

A short time later near Palmetto Drive and Redbud Road, the suspect rolled down the window of his vehicle and fired at the victim’s vehicle. The victim then fled the area, striking the suspect vehicle in the process.

At approximately 4:39 p.m., additional deputies enroute to the scene of the shooting observed a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle near the intersection of Route 24 and Trimble Road, traveling the opposite direction. Deputies unsuccessfully attempted to conduct a traffic stop of the suspect vehicle. It was later found abandoned in the 300 block of McCann Street. A short time later, at 4:53 p.m, deputies responded to Flying Point Park for the report of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was identified as the one involved in the incident.

Following his arrest, Williams was charged with Attempted 1st and 2nd Degree Murder, 1st and 2nd Degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment, and various handgun charges. He was transported to the Harford County Detention Center where he’s currently being held without bail.
