Suspect arrested and charged in Barbados with murdering Rihanna’s cousin
Superstar Rihanna has taken to social media to mourn the senseless death and murder of her 21-year-old cousin, Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne, who was killed on December 26 in Rihanna’s native island nation of Barbados. On January 4, The New York Daily News reported that a suspect has been arrested with Alleyne’s fatal shooting. Shawayne Dashawn Williams, 23, appeared in a Barbados courtroom yesterday and was charged with Alleyne’s murder.
Rihanna’s cousin was walking not far from his home in Lakes Close, Eden Lodge, Saint Michael, when he was shot multiple times, according to HNHH. Alleyne was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died from his gunshot wounds a short time later. A suspect, now identified as Williams, was seen fleeing the scene of the shooting. Williams is scheduled to be back in court on January 31.
The singer, songwriter openly mourned Alleyne on her Instagram page where she wrote, “RIP cousin… can’t believe it was just last night that I held you in my arms! Never thought that would be the last time I felt the warmth in your body!!! Love you always man!” 😢🙏🏿❤ #endgunviolence
Rihanna had just celebrated Christmas Day with her cousin. He was murdered the next day, according to The Daily Mail. Rihanna also posted a video to her Instagram account depicting her cousin happy, smiling and saying, “It’s nice to wake up and see all of your brothers and sisters.” Rihanna’s caption for that video reads “Be grateful for life man.”
