Yesterday, the Texas Department of Public Safety reported that on Memorial Day 2021, their Highway Patrol Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on US 83 and Suntex Road, just west of Rio Grande City, Texas – a location that is not far from the U.S. / Mexico border.  When the Troopers arrived at the scene of the car crash, they recovered three burlap sacks holding a combined total of 70 bundles of cocaine discovered in the back of a BMW SUV.

The drugs weighed an estimated 182 pounds and have a street value of over $3.3 million dollars.

The driver of the BMW later turned himself in to Starr County Sheriff’s Deputies and is facing drug possession charges.

While it is unclear where the drugs seized Monday came from, the Drug Enforcement Administration said in a recent report that Mexican criminal organizations dominate the wholesale distribution of cocaine to the United States. Colombian groups control the supply.  ~ MSN
