Manhunt is on for Daytona Beach shooter who shot police officer in the head (Video)
On the evening of June 23, a Daytona Beach Police Department Officer radioed headquarters just before 9 p.m. saying that he was at 133 Kingston Avenue investigating a suspicious incident. After several minutes passed, the officer stopped responding to other units calling him on the radio. Additional officers responded to his location where he was found lying on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
Part of the body camera footage from that officer has since been released.
According to that body cam footage, the officer instructed a man to sit down when the suspect was getting out of his vehicle. A scuffle ensued ending with the officer being shot.
The shooter, now identified as 29-year-old Othal Wallace, fled the scene after the shooting. Wallace may be in a gray 2016 Honda HRV with a California tag of 7TNX532.
The officer was transported to Halifax Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition. There is currently a multi-agency manhunt underway looking for the suspect.
A $100,000 reward is now available for anyone who can help authorities locate Othal Wallace. Anyone with information is urged to contact 911 immediately. Wallace should be considered armed and dangerous,
