Newborn reported missing from Hagerstown apartment
On the evening of March 8, Maryland’s Hagerstown Police Department reported that earlier that morning, their Officers were waved over at the intersection of West Franklin Street and North Prospect Street by a woman who told them that she had left her two-month-old baby at her apartment in the 200 block of West Franklin Street with a male acquaintance. She stated when she returned home, the male was still there but the baby was gone.
Police are on record as saying, “At this time, we do not know where the child is.”
Complicating the issue, officials with the Maryland Center for Missing and Unidentified Persons (MCMUP) reported that the baby, Zori Cherry, was last seen on Tuesday, and is believed to be in the company of Tianna Dawkins.
The complication comes in with police saying that they have interviewed Dawkins, but:
“… there are many details of this case we are not making public. It is not in the best interest of the investigation to do so. It is easy to make assumptions on social media but please know we have been and will continue to work hard on this case.” ~ Hagerstown PD
Detectives say that they are still actively working this investigation and that numerous individuals have been interviewed.
Anyone with any information regarding this case, or anyone that knows the whereabouts of the baby, Zori Cherry, is asked to contact Det. Weaver at sweaver@hagerstownpd.org or crimetip@hagerstownpd.org.
Police provided a picture of the baby, describing the infant as a two-month-old Black male.
