On April 12, Florida’s Martin County Sheriff’s Office posted a video to their Facebook page depicting a brazen and disturbing armed robbery.  The violent and desperate assault went down in a convenience store in Port Salerno on Monday night – and officials are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect who attacked the convenience store clerk and ran off with stolen cash.

The entire episode was caught on surveillance video.

The video shows the suspect walking into the Step ‘n Food on Cove Road in Port Salerno and making his way behind the store counter, putting a knife to the clerk’s throat and demanding the clerk surrender all the money in the cash drawer.

The clerk complied with the robber’s demands, and was pushed to the ground after the suspect secured the cash. The video also shows the armed robber emptying the cash drawer and stopping to bend over to pick up some cash that fell to the floor – all the while continuing to hold a knife to the clerk’s head. Fortunately, the store clerk was not injured.

The video also shows the suspect making his escape.

Detectives said that the suspect appeared to be a white, or light skin male, with a skinny build. He fled on foot in the direction of SE Driftwood Avenue. There was no word yet on exactly how much cash the suspect stole – but you can see him grabbing as much as possible.

If you have any information about this robbery, you are asked to call Detective Michael Coccaro at 772-320-3114.
