On June 21 around 8:49 a.m., the police department in Altamonte Springs, Florida, responded to the Charter Pointe Apartments located at 909 Ballard Street after being requested to make a welfare check at that residence.

Upon their arrival, officers with the Altamonte Springs Police Department, along with the Seminole County Fire Department located 21-year-old Nhu Quynh Pham who was found dead in the apartment she shared with her husband, 21-year-old Xichen Yang.  The couple had only been married for about one year; and the wife was found with her throat slashed.

“Immediately after officers entered the apartment, a female was found lying in a pool of blood in a bathtub,” said police. ~ Oxygen

The husband was not in the apartment when police arrived on the scene; but he was quickly located and taken into custody.  Yang confessed to police to cutting his wife’s throat. He told the authorities that he held her hand for about 10 minutes as she bled out and died – and he also played her favorite music during her final moments. He also admitted to never calling an ambulance.

During his interview with police, Yang said that after he slashed his wife, she began “crawling down the wall” toward the exit.  That’s when he placed her in the bathtub. Yang told the police that he was angry with his wife because she burned his passport, according to WESH 2 News. After Pham died, Yang tried cleaning up the blood.

Yang had his initial court hearing on Thursday.  He was charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence, and was ordered to be held without bond. As of Thursday, Yang was in the custody of Seminole County Corrections Deputies, awaiting medical clearance before being transported to the jail.

A GoFundMe page was created to “assist Quynh’s family for funeral expenses as well as transporting her back to Vietnam which is where all of her family members reside.”
