Disneyland employee gets more than 125 years in prison on child sex abuse charges
David Goodman, 25, of Banning, California, was employed at Disneyland until he was busted in 2014 and charged with a multitude of child sex abuse crimes, including four counts of lewd act upon a child, three counts of oral copulation or sexual penetration, one count of a forcible lewd act upon a child, one count of distributing or showing child pornography to a minor and one count of possession of child pornography. The former Disneyland employee was convicted of all those charges back in February. ABC News in San Francisco reports that on Wednesday, the child predator was sentenced to more than 125 years in state prison for his crimes against children.
Yesterday, The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported deputy district attorney Melinda Spencer as saying that in his detailed letter of confession, Goodman wrote that his favorite method of gaining access to his young victims was to befriend single moms who he felt to be “easy targets.” Spencer also said that investigators found a manual called “How to Practice Child Love” saved on Goodman’s computer.
Prosecutors said that while working at Disneyland in 2014, the then 21-year-old Goodman targeted “two women in their early 30s who both have children. His victims ranged in age from 5 to 11,” according to NBC News in Los Angeles.
Goodman began working at Disneyland in August 2014 and was arrested later that year in December on suspicion of child sex crimes. He first came under scrutiny when police received a report that he had masturbated in front of two six-year old and nine-year-old children at a home in Yucaipa. As the investigation into Goodman and his activities progressed, it was discovered that he was responsible for “previous sexual abuse of victims described as boys ages 6 and 9 and a girl, age 5” according to ABC News.
The district attorney’s office reported that during Goodman’s trial, a trained K9 from the Special Victims K9 Unit was employed to comfort victims “before and during testimony.” The Sacramento Bee reported prosecutors as saying that besides working at Disneyland, Goodman also volunteered with a children’s theater group.
Goodman will be spending the next 125 years and eight months in a California state prison.
