Police need help identifying suspect who stole pregnant dog from a home in District Heights
On March 16, the Prince George’s County Police Department (PGCPD) asked the public to please watch a video of a female suspect who stole a family’s pregnant pet dog from their home’s front porch. Police hope that you can help identify the bold and brazen thief.
Police say that the theft went down on March 6 at approximately 5:35 a.m. The home seen in the video is located in the 6200 block of Foster Street in the unincorporated section of District Heights. You can see the doorbell video of the suspect trying to get Canela to warm up to her, per the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Twitter feed below:

The video clearly depicts a female suspect walking onto the porch of the home and approaching the dog. She spends a few minutes speaking to Canela and even petting her while the dog can be heard barking. According to police, the woman ultimately takes the dog; and a second suspect is believed to be involved in the theft.
In an interview with Telemundo 44, Canela’s owners said she was pregnant and believed the suspects intend to sell the dog’s puppies. ~ Patch.com in Bowie, MD
The Prince George’s County Police Department ask that if you recognize this suspect or have any information on Canela’s whereabouts, to please call 301-516-5230 and refer to case number 23-0013648.
