Suspect identified: Three dead in Gardendale, AL mobile park shooting
Police in Gardendale, Alabama, identified 52-year-old Florida resident Kenneth Dion Lever as their prime suspect in the shooting murders of three people who were gunned down at a trailer park in the area’s Peachtree Crossings community on the morning of July 12. Lever was described by Gardendale police as being a white male, 5’10”, weighing 220 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair; and he’s still on the loose.
“Police issued this statement just before 9:30 a.m.: ‘Gardendale Police Department is working an active shooter situation at Glenn Chapel Rd. and Willow Bend Dr. We ask that all citizens in this the Peach Tree community shelter in place.’” ~ per AL.com.
Police further cautioned “If you see this individual do not approach and call 9-1-1. He is considered armed and dangerous.” The BOLO sent out by the police described Lever as wearing blue jeans and a camouflage t-shirt. The suspect is believed to be on foot as his car was discovered abandoned near the rear of the trailer park. On their Twitter page, the Gardendale PD described Lever’s car as a black 2007 Lincoln Navigator with Florida tag # 689NFN.
The Gardendale police, joined by police from Kimberly and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, quickly set up a perimeter in the area. A K-9 tracking unit was also being deployed by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
By 11:10 a.m., the Gardendale police tweeted: “We believe suspect has left the Peachtree area,” followed by “Shelter in place is lifted in Peachtree.”
