Missing mother of four found dead inside husband’s storage unit
Yesterday, law enforcement officials in Florida made the horrific announcement that a woman missing from the City of Winter Springs and not seen since November 11 has been found dead. Making the announcement even more macabre, her remains were discovered in her estranged husband’s self-storage unit in Apopka, according to WESH.
On Sunday, November 19, the Winter Springs Police Department announced that their officers were searching for Shakira Rucker, who was last seen on the evening of November 11 as she was leaving her Winter Springs home. Police distributed her missing poster and asked for the public’s assistance in finding the 37-year-old mother of four.
Tragically, later in the day on November 19, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO ) announced that earlier that day, their deputies responded to the Self Storage at 2400 Wiggins Road in Apopka and found Shakeira Rucker dead inside a storage unit, and they were now investigating her death as an Orange County homicide case.
Making that announcement on Sunday morning, Sheriff John Mina added that “Rucker appeared to have died from gunshot wounds.”
Officials say Rucker’s estranged husband Cory Hill is the prime suspect in this murder, and he is already in the Orange County Jail for shooting at his ex-girlfriend and her family.
Mina said Hill will be charged with the murder of Rucker. Officials said he has not been cooperative and the storage unit was registered to Hill. ~ per WESH
