Police seeking next of kin of homeless man who committed suicide by train
On July 7, Florida’s West Palm Beach Police Department issued a notice to their community looking for assistance in trying to find any family members of a homeless man who perished two months ago after he was struck and killed by a commuter train.
Background: according to police, just after 9:30 p.m. back on May 28, Clinton McCray, 64, was trespassing on the CSX railroad tracks near Southern Boulevard when he was struck by the northbound Tri-Rail train. McCray died at the scene and the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death a suicide. Police haven’t had any luck locating any of McCray’s family members since he passed.
Exhaustive efforts to locate McCray’s next-of-kin only identified an aunt from Riviera Beach who died years ago. McCray drifted between West Palm Beach and nearby cities.
According to law enforcement, the only photo available of McCray is from a driver’s license dating back to the early 2000’s.
The case is being treated as an indigent burial by the medical examiner unless a relative can be located.
