Wisconsin, along with the rest of the nation, is mourning after hearing the details of the latest mass school shooting – this time at the Abundant Life Christian School located at 4901 E Buckeye Road in Madison, Wisconsin.  The shooting occurred Monday morning, December 16, with the shooter being identified as a 15-year-old girl – now deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound   – who was also a student at the school.

Police in Madison arrived at the school by 10:57 a.m. on the morning of the shootings.  Officers arrived to discover that multiple people including students and teachers had been shot.

Three people, including the suspected shooter, are dead. The shooter has been identified as 15-year-old Natalie Rupnow, who went by Samantha.  She was a student at the school and evidence suggests she died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The official cause of death will be released by the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office pending the conclusion of their thorough examination. She was pronounced dead on the way to the hospital.  ~ Madison Police Department

In a tragic and almost unbearable sign of out times, the very first 911 call officials received regarding the shootings came from an eight-year-old student on the scene at Abundant Life.  According to Today, “… at 10:57 a.m., a second grade student called 911 to report a shooting had occurred at school,” a solemn [Madison Police Chief] Barnes said as he scanned the room. “Let that soak in for a minute. A second grade student called 911 at 10:57 a.m. to report a shooting at school.”



One teacher and a teenage student were pronounced dead at the school.  Six other people were injured during the shooting and taken to area hospitals. Two students remain in critical condition and have life-threatening injuries.

A teacher and three students were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Two of these people have already been discharged from the hospital. The other two survivors are considered stable.

The shootings occurred inside a classroom in a study hall full of students from mixed grades.  NBC News shared that a possible motive regarding the shootings is still under investigation, according to Chief Barnes.
