On Christmas Eve-Eve, Florida’s Indian River County Sheriff’s Office (IRCSO) announced that earlier in the day on December 23, 14-year-old Ryan Lesesne was taken into custody by detectives from the IRCSO Criminal Investigations Division. Through investigation Lesesne was identified as the suspect in the attempted shooting murder that occurred early afternoon on Saturday December 21 in Vero Beach where another teen had been shot in the stomach.
The victim is a 16-year-old male who is currently in stable condition. Lesesne was placed under arrest for attempted 2nd degree murder. He is currently being held at the Department of Juvenile Justice.
“Our team spent the weekend investigating this senseless shooting incident. I’m glad to have Lesesne behind bars where he belongs. Gun violence has no place in our great community especially during the holidays.” – IRCSO Sheriff Eric Flowers
Lesesne made the local headlines previously back on December 4 when the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office reported him as a missing runaway who was last seen in Vero Beach on November 25. Shortly after posting a picture of the then missing 14-year-old, law enforcement announced that he had been located – and that he was safe.
