Up in the sky! Drones? UFOs? No, a SpaceX rocket explodes during launch, again (Video)

Around 8:15 p.m. on the night of March 6, South Florida’s Martin County Sheriff’s Office shared a dramatic video of a visually stunning event filling the night sky. At the time, the only thing they could say for certain was what they were told, that a SpaceX rocket launched out of Texas, carrying a Starlink satellite, experienced a breakup during launch, resulting in spacecraft debris re-entering the atmosphere. A stunning video of this incident was captured in Hobe Sound.

Local law enforcement received numerous calls concerning the event and also received several reports from the Palm Beach Gardens area. The situation was verified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA,) which, as a precaution, began temporarily halting flights in the airspace.
The Sheriff’s Office went on to report that, “there are no reports of drones, UFOs, or any other unusual phenomena associated with this incident.”
Later in the evening, we did learn that SpaceX had indeed launched its Starship rocket from South Texas, aiming to deploy a Starlink satellite. Unfortunately, the rocket’s upper stage experienced a malfunction during ascent, leading to its breakup over the Bahamas. This marked the second consecutive failure for the Starship upper stage, a critical component for SpaceX’s ambitious plans, including lunar missions with NASA.
The FAA initiated a mishap investigation following the incident. Debris from the rocket caused temporary flight delays at several airports, including Miami International. In a good news / bad news scenario, despite the failure, SpaceX successfully recovered the Super Heavy booster, showcasing advancements in reusable rocket technology.
SpaceX emphasized the importance of learning from such tests to improve Starship’s reliability. The company reports remaining being committed to refining its systems to achieve its long-term goals of space exploration and satellite deployment.
