New Year’s Day blaze claims the life of Dundalk woman
The Baltimore County Fire Department released word today that a 59-year-old woman died in a one-alarm, New Year’s Day apartment fire in Dundalk, Maryland. According to officials, Lillian Lyman Lindeman, of the 2800 block of Dunlawn Ct., was pronounced dead at the scene by BCoFD EMS personnel after repeated attempts to revive her were unsuccessful.
Engine 7 (Essex) and other east side crews were dispatched at 9:40 p.m. after another resident of the apartment building reported smoke in his unit. Firefighters found the victim’s apartment filled with smoke and located the victim — who was unresponsive — in the living room. EMS crews immediately began advanced life support care.
The resident who reported the fire was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
BCoFD fire investigators determined that the fire began when smoking materials ignited combustible items. The fire and smoke damage was limited mainly to the apartment of origin.
