Kyle Thompson gets 420 years in prison for raping 3 toddlers, recording the heinous acts on video

After being found guilty of raping three young girls, ages two to four, assaulting one of them in the woods behind his apartment and videotaping the atrocities, Kyle Stephen Thompson, 33, of Burtonsville, Maryland, was sentenced on January 30 to 420 years in federal prison concurrent to the state sentence to be imposed, and lifetime supervised release for his conviction on 18 counts of production of child pornography. 

Thompson’s abuse of the toddlers spanned two years. His trial lasted for three days.  On September 13, 2018, the jury in that trial deliberated for less than 30 minutes before finding him guilty on all 18 counts.

U.S. Attorney Robert K. Hur stated, “Kyle Thompson’s horrific sexual assaults on young girls would not have stopped without the work of the prosecutors, law enforcement agents, and witnesses in this case.  Today’s sentence is a result of their efforts and ensures that Thompson will never be able to abuse a child again.”

According to the evidence presented at his trial and at his sentencing hearing, from May 9, 2015, to January 28, 2017, Thompson sexually assaulted three young girls, each of whom were between two and four years of age at the time of the abuse, in order to produce visual depictions documenting the abuse. 

On March 17, 2017, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Thompson’s residence and recovered a Secure Digital (SD) memory card hidden in the laundry room.  During a preliminary on-scene forensic preview of the SD card, law enforcement saw a video depicting child pornography.  According to trial testimony, subsequent forensic analysis of the SD card revealed 18 videos of Thompson sexually abusing the three young girls.
