An evil stepmother from Grand Prairie, Texas, was charged with a felony injury to a child after she admitted to dousing her five-year-old stepdaughter’s face with rubbing alcohol and then setting the little girl on fire, according to a May 31 report from The New York Post. Police went to the home of 20-year-old Dalia Jimenez in the Dallas suburbs after receiving a report on May 13 that the child had suffered severe burns and needed medical treatment.  The really bad mom told first responders that the little girl got burned accidentally while she was trying to light a candle.

Fox News reported the police as saying that they soon discovered inconsistencies in Jimenez’s story when they were interviewing her. Police also discovered that the Jimenez home had a history with Child Protective Services and that the same little girl had suffered a broken arm back in 2018. That revelation helped police decide to take a closer look at the stepmother.

When police arrived at the home, they were able to see that both of the little girl’s cheeks had sustained burns with those burns extending down below her jaw and onto her shoulders. Grand Prairie Police Detective Greg Parker said that those were the most extensive injuries he’s ever had to investigate.

Jimenez initially told police the child was burned accidentally while lighting a candle, but after inconsistencies in her story turned up after an hour-long interview with detectives, she told police she lit a fire intentionally to punish the girl for yelling. ~ The Dallas News

The little girl’s father was not present when the child got burned and is not considered to be a suspect in this incident. The five-year-old and her younger sibling were both removed from the home by Child Protective Services and are now in the care of other family members.

Jimenez was booked into the Grand Prairie jail after being charged with felony injury to a child – but is now free after posting a $20,000 bond.
