On January 16, the NFL announced that actress and multi-platinum singer / songwriter Demi Lovato will sing the National Anthem as part of Super Bowl LIV pregame festivities at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on Sunday, February 2.

The pregame show, including the National Anthem, will be broadcast live worldwide.

Lovato is a Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter, actress, advocate, philanthropist, and businesswoman. Within hours of the release of her fifth studio album, Confident, the first single, “Cool for the Summer” trended worldwide and hit #1 on iTunes in 37 countries.

Lovato will join a prestigious line up of Super Bowl National Anthem performers, including: Gladys Knight, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Luke Bryan, Whitney Houston, Diana Ross, Jennifer Hudson, Billy Joel, P!NK, Jordin Sparks, Idina Menzel, Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys, and Neil Diamond

In addition, on behalf of the National Association of the Deaf (NAD), Christine Sun Kim, internationally renowned sound artist and performer, will sign the National Anthem in American Sign Language.

The NFL previously announced that Jennifer Lopez and Shakira will headline the Pepsi Super Bowl LIV Halftime Show.

The versatile Lovato has been keeping a low profile and concentrating on her health and well-being since a highly publicized drug overdose back in 2018. But with her announcement yesterday confirming that she would be joining an elite list of National Anthem Super Bowl vocalists, it sounds like she’s ready to come back – and in grand style.

The Los Angeles Times quoted the beloved “Barney and Friends” and Disney child star as saying back in November that, “It’s important to remember that I am so cautious this time around of jumping back into things. I’ve really decided to take my time with things.  When the time is right, I will put it out there. I am dying to release new music … but everything in due time.”

Welcome back Demi !
