Tiger Woods getting professional help following DUI
American pro golfer Tiger Woods, 41, tweeted on June 19 that following his recent DUI arrest, he’s receiving “professional help to manage his medications and the way he deals with his back pain and sleep disorder,” according to USA Today. Police in Jupiter, Florida, found the golfing icon asleep behind the wheel of his Mercedes-Benz in the early hours of May 29. His car was found precariously perched in the middle of the road with two flat tires and some “noticeable damage.”
Woods failed a field sobriety test but tested clean for having any alcohol in his system. He did admit to having a bad and “unexpected” reaction to taking a combination of four prescription meds which included Vicodin and Xanax, according to ESPN.
“I’m not at liberty to say where he is, but he is receiving in-patient treatment,” said Mark Steinberg, Woods’ agent, in a phone interview. “Tiger has been dealing with so much pain physically. And that leads to insomnia and sleep issues. This has been going on for a long time.” ~ per ESPN
The golfer has endured four back surgeries over the last four years. He’s currently checked into a facility to get the help he needs for managing his prescription medications. His DUI arraignment is currently scheduled for August 9, 2017.
