Aberdeen teen arrested in connection to Edgewood shooting

One man is in custody and has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a recent shooting that went down in Edgewood, Maryland.  On April 18 at 6:01 p.m., deputies with the Harford County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Harford Square Drive in response to multiple reports of a shooting.  Upon arrival in the area of F Court, deputies located signs of a shooting, but no victims.

At approximately the same time, Troopers with the Maryland State Police located a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Hanson Road and Woodbridge Center Way.

Three men were located near one of the vehicles involved in the crash, all suffering from injuries. One of the men, Garfield Smith III, 29, of Middle River, was suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower body. All three were transported to the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. No other injuries were reported.

Detectives developed information identifying Niles Richard Alleyne, 18, of Aberdeen, as a suspect. A warrant for his arrest was issued on April 21; and on April 26, Alleyne turned himself in at the Harford County Detention Center, where he is currently being held without bail.

Alleyne is charged with attempted 1st and 2nd degree murder, 1st and 2nd degree assault, and other related charges.  At this time, no other charges have been filed in connection to this shooting.

The Sheriff’s Office said that their investigation into this case is still ongoing and is seeking the public’s help for any information regarding the incident.
