Actor Jonathan Majors arrested, accused of assaulting a woman in NYC
Actor Jonathan Majors’ rising star was tarnished yesterday after the Creed III star was arrested in New York City following an alleged domestic violence incident where he was accused of assaulting a 30-year-old woman. Variety shared a portion of a statement by the NYPD of the female victim telling police that she was assaulted and that she was taken to the hospital with “minor injuries to her head and neck.” The 9-1-1 call from the victim was logged in around 11:14 a.m. yesterday with police responding to a location in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood.
When police arrived on the scene, the unidentified woman told officers that she had been assaulted by Majors.
“A preliminary investigation determined that a 33-year-old male was involved in a domestic dispute with a 30-year-old female,” police said. “The victim informed police she was assaulted. Officers placed the 33-year-old male into custody without incident. The victim sustained minor injuries to her head and neck and was removed to an area hospital in stable condition.” ~ Variety
Police said that after they verified the woman’s injuries, that officers arrested the33-year-old Majors. The NYPD said that the actor is looking at charges that include “strangulation, assault, and harassment.” NBC News shared a statement by a spokesperson for Majors who said that “He has done nothing wrong. We look forward to clearing his name and clearing this up.”
Majors is one of the “up-and-comers” on the Hollywood scene having made a name for himself in blockbuster films like Creed III and Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. He has a few new ventures coming up, including the film Magazine Dreams, set for release in December; and he’ll be reprising his Kang the Conqueror role from the recent Ant-Man movie when he headlines Marvel’ s Avengers: The Kang Dynasty film, slated for release in May 2025.
Majors has since been released from custody, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
