After two days, missing Maine man found in his truck, stuck in the mud in New Hampshire woods
On Friday, September 15, around 4:58 a.m., the Sanford Police Department in the state of Maine received a call regarding a missing man, Robert C. Brown, 65, from Sanford. Robert was last seen on Thursday, September 14 after he dropped his wife off at work about 15 miles away in Rochester, New Hampshire. She had not seen her husband since he dropped her off.
Police said that when Brown was last seen, he was driving his white, 2008, Ford Super Duty pickup truck. Officials asked anyone with information on Brown’s whereabouts to please call local law enforcement or the Sanford Police Department.
On Saturday, September 16 at 2:30 p.m., the Sanford Police Department was notified by the Dover Police Department that citizens had located Brown who was stuck in his vehicle. Two men, hunters, were walking in the woods near River Street and Washington Street In Dover, New Hampshire, when they spotted the truck stuck in the mud, with Brown still inside.
According to WCAX-TV, Brown and his truck had slid down an embankment and his vehicle had become stuck. Brown was trapped in his vehicle and unable to get out. The area where he got stuck for two days in New Hampshire was heavily wooded and muddy.
“This is generally not accessed by people from the public. This is more like an area to dump dredging and sand and dirt and things used by the city workers and things like that. But I don’t know how he got out here,” said Dover Fire Department Lt. Patrick Simmons. ~ WMTW Portland ME
Two hunters came across Brown’s truck stuck in the mud on Saturday while they were making their way through that wooded area. A rescue crew was called, and Dover Fire and Rescue along with Dover Police and Sanford Police were on scene and transported Brown to Wentworth Douglas with non-life-threatening injuries.
The case is still under investigation.
