Airline flight cancellations mount as winter storms hit the U.S.
The Holiday Season is upon us, bringing with it winter storms across the U.S. and airplane flight delays and cancellations for one of the busiest times of the year to fly.
According to CNN, flights across the nation have already been cancelled for today, per the stats indicated below.
- Total delays today: 8,115
- Total delays within, into, or out of the United States today: 745
- Total cancellations today: 3,718
- Total cancellations within, into, or out of the United States today: 1,216
And according to the flight tracking website, FlightAware, things are looking just as bad for tomorrow.
- Total delays tomorrow: 261
- Total cancellations tomorrow: 2,046
- Total cancellations within, into, or out of the United States tomorrow: 702

Weather forecasters are predicting a “bomb cyclone,” and the National Weather Service says more than 100 million people are under winter alerts and wind chill alerts — that’s roughly one-third of the US population. ~ CNN
Fox News warns that “Airports across the U.S. are bracing for the worst of the storm, which is expected to peak Thursday and could linger through early Saturday.” “If you can’t change your travel plans, remember that it’s going to take potentially a lot longer to get where you’re going to do so safely,” explained Meredith Mitts, AAA spokesperson.
