Annapolis: Help with drug OD response training, substance use prevention, more, begins this week
Beginning Wednesday, January 22, 2025, representatives from the City of Annapolis will be available for “On-Site Services Wednesdays” for substance use disorder at the Robinwood Community Resource Center. The On-Site Services office will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. bi-monthly on Wednesdays.
The Center is located at 1453 Tyler Avenue, Annapolis, MD 21403. Upcoming winter dates: Jan. 22; Feb. 5 and 19; and Mar. 5 and 19.
Residents can receive a range of vital resources, including:
- overdose response training,
- information on substance use prevention, treatment, and recovery.
- overdose prevention supplies, such as Narcan and test strips, and
- additional community resources to support individuals and families.
On-Site Services Wednesdays is an initiative of the Naptown Anti-Dope Move(meant) (NAM), a program led by the Office of Mayor Gavin Buckley. NAM is dedicated to raising awareness about opioid overdoses, educating the community, and supporting residents impacted by substance use disorders by connecting them to prevention, treatment, and recovery services. The NAM initiative has helped to reduce fatal overdoses in the City over the past five years. In 2020, there were 28 fatal overdoses, 17 in 2021, 15 in 2022, 10 in 23 and 5 last year.
“Addressing the opioid crisis requires a community-wide effort,” said Mayor Gavin Buckley. “Through the Naptown Anti-Dope Move(meant) and On-Site Services Wednesdays, we are taking action to save lives, support recovery, and provide our residents with the tools and resources they need. Together, we can make a real difference in the fight against substance use disorders.”
