Arrest made in brutal stabbing murder at Owings Mills Laundromat
On Tuesday, the Baltimore County Police Department announced that their homicide detectives responded to an area business in the 10500 block of Reisterstown Road in Owings Mills, Maryland, following a reported stabbing on Monday, November 7. The business was a local laundromat located just north of Owings Mills Boulevard. Detectives located a victim at the scene who was later pronounced deceased.
An arrest has been made in what witnesses described as a brutal stabbing murder. Homicide detectives arrested and charged 29-year-old Julian Funderburk with first-degree murder in the homicide of 39-year-old Jerry Lewis.
The male stabbing victim, Lewis, was at the laundromat assisting a woman with her laundry when another man, Funderburk, approached the woman and began bothering her. Lewis interceded and told the man to leave the woman alone.
According to charging documents Funderburk said “I’m going to get my knife, and I’m going to cut your head off.” Funderburk left the business, and returned with two knives.
A witness on the scene said that Funderburk, “stabbed this guy about 10-15 times in less than two minutes,” according to WMAR 2 News.
Following the fatal stabbing, police caught up with Funderburk, his hands covered with blood, while he was walking home with two bloody kitchen knives and a home-made shiv.
The stabbing inside the laundromat was captured on surveillance video. Police said that Funderburk admitted to the brutal assault, providing the motive that Lewis disrespected him.
Funderburk is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center without bond.
