Arrest made in Edgewood stabbing
Yesterday, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office reported that one victim is recovering – and HCSO’s detectives are actively investigating a stabbing that occurred in Edgewood on Tuesday. On October 13, at approximately 9:13 p.m., Harford deputies responded to the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center for the report of a patient with a stab wound. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the man, identified as Antoine Darrell Gaines, 35, a Baltimore resident who was suffering from a stab wound to the upper body.
Deputies were informed that the assault occurred earlier that evening on Reider Court in Edgewood, Maryland. Following the assault, Gaines was transported to the hospital by a private citizen. At this time, his injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.
The investigation was assumed by detectives from the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division. Investigators from the Forensic Services Unit responded to Reider Court, to collect and preserve physical evidence in support of the investigation.
The initial investigation indicates Gaines went to Reider Court to check on an acquaintance, Daniel Soloman Mason, 32 of Edgewood. When Gaines arrived, he attempted to converse with Mason, after which Mason became agitated and confrontational. Gaines attempted to leave to avoid the confrontation; but Mason stabbed him in the upper body and fled.
After receiving information regarding the suspect, patrol units were able to locate Mason in the 100 block of Reider Court. He was transported to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division. Mason is charged with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, 1st Degree Assault, and 2nd Degree Assault. He is being held at the Harford County Detention Center without bond.
