Yesterday, the Baltimore County Police Department revealed that they had recently received information that led to the identification of the suspect and the vehicle involved in the December 8th fatal hit and run crash that claimed the life of a Towson University student. The suspect has been identified as Man Bahadur Gurung, 36, of the 1400-block of Chesaco Avenue, Rosedale, Maryland.

Investigators were able to locate evidence that linked the vehicle, a grey 2017 Toyota Tundra and suspect to the crash that resulted in the death of 20-year-old Mzimazisi Ncube who lived on Burke Avenue in Towson.

Police charged Gurung with four charges relating to the crash, including failing to remain at the scene of a fatal accident, and additional charges. He is currently being held at the Baltimore County Department of Corrections on denied bail status.

Around 10:30 p.m. on December 8, Mzimazisi Ncube was crossing North Charles Street on foot south of  Ruxton Ridge Road when he was struck by Gurung’s vehicle which was traveling northbound on North Charles Street. After his vehicle struck Ncube, Gurung did not stop to render any aid, but instead drove away traveling north on North Charles Street.

After Ncube was knocked to the ground, he was struck by a second passing vehicle, a Mercedes, that stopped at the scene and called 911. Ncube was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Following the accident, The Towson Times tweeted a link to an article from TheBaltimore Sun:

The Sun also reported that Ncube played sports and volunteered as a mentor before graduating from Gaithersburg High School.  He continued to volunteer as a mentor at Towson University and was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity there.
