Arrest made in July 4 McHenry Street stabbing homicide
Yesterday, the Baltimore Police Department announced the arrest of a man they say is responsible for a murder that occurred in the City’s Southern District on July 4. The accused murderer has been identified as 49-year-old Michael Atkinson of Baltimore.
Baltimore PD Detectives learned that Atkinson fatally stabbed 53-year-old Michael Raub while in the 1600 block of McHenry Street over an argument.
On July 14, Warrant Apprehension detectives arrested Atkinson in the 1500 block of Ramsey Street. Atkinson was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he was charged with 1st-degree murder.
Background: On July 4 at approximately 10:40 a.m., officers responded to the 1600 block of McHenry Street to investigate a call for a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers observed a 53-year-old male suffering from what appeared to be life-threatening stab wounds to his chest. Medics responded and transported the victim to the University of Maryland Medical Center, Shock Trauma, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Also back in July, Baltimore Homicide Detectives released video footage of the then as of yet still unidentified Atkinson in the hopes of garnering the public’s assistance in identifying him. See the video below.
