The man suspected to be involved in a deliberate hit-and-run crash in Lochearn, Maryland, on the morning of January 16 has been arrested and charged with assault and other related criminal and vehicular charges.

William Eugene Brown Jr. (24) of the 1000 block of Craftswood Road in the Catonsville section of Baltimore County, was arrested at his home around 11 a.m. on Wednesday following multiple calls to 9-1-1 regarding a crash at Patterson and Wildwood Avenue at about 7:50 a.m. indicating that the drivers of the vehicles were fighting. Brown, the driver of the suspect vehicle, fled the scene before police arrived.

The investigation revealed that Brown, driving a blue 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier, was following the victim eastbound on Wildwood Avenue. When the victim’s vehicle, a Chevrolet Impala, stopped at the intersection at Patterson Avenue the suspect rear-ended the victim’s Impala, pushing the Impala into the intersection where it was struck again on the passenger side by a Dodge Challenger. The Impala was pushed across the intersection where it struck the front of a brick home.

Brown drove his vehicle to the crash site and began a verbal confrontation with the driver of the Impala, then attempted to physically fight with both the driver and another adult passenger before getting back into his Cavalier and attempting to strike the other driver with his vehicle before fleeing the scene.

Three occupants of the Impala, including the adult driver, an adult male passenger, and a toddler were transported to an area hospital with suspected minor injuries. The driver of the third vehicle was not injured and did remain at the scene.

Police indicated that there were conflicting accounts given by both drivers of what precipitated the initial crash on Wildwood Avenue.

Brown is currently held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center pending a bail review hearing.
