On October 27, the Orlando Police Department announced that the agency had made an arrest in a shooting murder that went down last week.  The young man arrested is only 17 years old. And the young pregnant lady he reportedly shot and killed was only 18-years-old.

Background:  On October 21 at approximately 2:55 p.m., a shooting was reported in the 1000 block of Bel Air Avenue. The victim, 18-year-old Anguely Rodriguez-Torres, had been struck in the back by gunfire.  She was transported to the hospital but later succumbed to her injuries.

According to Fox 35 in Orlando, on that fatal Sunday afternoon, Rodriguez-Torres together with a male companion, were walking down the sidewalk at Curry Ford Road and Bel Air Avenue when Smith approached them.  An argument broke out.  Smith shot Rodriguez-Torres in the back and ran off.

On October 27, police in Orlando arrested 17-year-old Caleb Smith and charged him with Second Degree Murder with a Firearm and Possession of a Firearm by a Delinquent.

The Orlando Sentinel shared that, according to Rodriguez-Torres’ family, the 18-year-old was pregnant with a girl when she was shot and killed.
