Arrest made in the shooting murder of 27-year-old Jessica Somerville
Thanks to a tip that came in from a concerned citizen, Maryland’s Prince George’s County Police Department was able to announce that the suspect wanted for the murder of 27-year-old Jessica Somerville is now in custody in North Carolina. With the assistance of the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, NC, and the United States Marshals Service, 23-year-old Raheem Hawkins-Boseman of Silver Spring, was arrested late Wednesday night at a home in Leland, North Carolina.
Background: On March 17, 2024, at approximately 2:15 a.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 5800 block of Silver Hill Road. Tragically, Jessica Somerville was located outside of a business suffering from a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead on the scene. During the course of their investigation into Jessica’s murder, the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit identified their shooting suspect and obtained an arrest warrant for Hawkins-Boseman two days later on March 19, 2024.
The preliminary investigation revealed Hawkins-Boseman followed Jessica outside of a fast-food restaurant after a brief dispute – and shot her in the parking lot. The two were not known to each other prior to the encounter inside of the business.
Hawkins-Boseman has been charged with first and second-degree murder and related charges. He is currently in the custody of the Brunswick County Detention Center in North Carolina pending extradition back to Prince George’s County.
