Background:   In the late hours of May 24, just before 11 p.m., CCSO was alerted to a home invasion in the 22000 block of Beverly Avenue in Port Charlotte.  Shortly after receiving the call, deputies arrived on the scene where they observed a wounded male laying in the road on Felton Avenue.

Four individuals ranging from age 17 to 33 were involved what officials described as a “brazen home invasion.”  One suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene. Another suspect is currently in critical condition and receiving medical treatment. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of law enforcement personnel, the two other suspects (Stevenson and Jenness) were apprehended after fleeing in a silver vehicle.

During the commission of the crime, two dogs were struck by gunfire and were transported to a local animal hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, one of the dogs died from those injuries.  ~ CCSO
