Attempted murder arrest: K9 sniffs out Florida man who stabbed his girlfriend and two others
Yesterday, the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office headquartered in Vero Beach, Florida, reported that on Saturday, April 30 at approximately 2:30 a.m., uniformed patrol responded to the Pemberly Palms apartment complex in reference to a stabbing. Once at the scene, they discovered three victims actively bleeding from their injuries. It was determined there was only one suspect, who was identified as Iva Worthy Jr., who had fled the scene on foot.
All three victims were turned over to EMS, one of which was flown to a trauma center. Canine Deputy Sunny and his handler responded to the scene and began tracking Worthy. Sunny quickly located Worthy hiding within the complex, concealed in some shrubs.
Major Crimes Detectives also responded and determined the incident started as an argument between Worthy and his girlfriend. During that argument, Worthy began repeatedly stabbing her with a 5-8” kitchen knife. Other family members within the home attempted to stop Worthy at which point he began attacking them, causing numerous injuries.
All three victims are in stable condition or have been released from the hospital at this time.
Iva Worthy Jr. was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder and one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He is currently being held at the Indian River County Jail on a $350,000.00 bond.
