Yesterday, the Baltimore Police Department reported on the arrest of a runaway dog that appears to be a German Shepherd (mix?) pup.  The pursuit went down on Saturday, November 11, when, according to police:

… Inner Harbor units were on routine patrol when they spotted this unarmed four-legged suspect fleeing in the 600 block of East Baltimore Street. Officers gave chase, cornering the suspect at Broadway and East Baltimore Street.

The suspect refused to provide officers with proper identification so they have nicknamed him “Forrest Gump” and took him into custody.

“Forrest” jumped into the back of the police cruiser without resisting and was transported to BARCs (Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter) where he currently is being held until his owners can break him out.

Anyone recognizing “Forest Gump” or anyone knowing his owners should contact BARCS (2490 Giles Road, 21225, 410-396-4695).

BARCS is responsible for handling lost/found animals found in Baltimore City. However, there are additional area shelters that also take in lost/found animals. Please note that the legal lost animal hold in the State of Maryland is 72 hours. After that time, lost/found animals are eligible for any outcome the shelter deems best for the animal. If you see your pet’s photo on their website, please contact BARCS immediately at resource@barcs.org.
