Baltimore daughter charged with killing her mom
Yesterday, the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) shared the gruesome news regarding the arrest of a 31-year-old woman accused of shooting and killing her mother. The alleged matricide went down on August 16 at approximately 10:08 p.m. At that time, BPD officers were dispatched to the 2400 block of Washington Boulevard in Baltimore City to investigate reports of gunfire heard in the area.
When police arrived on the scene, they discovered 48-year-old Sherry Birmingham laying on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds. Birmingham was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center where she was pronounced dead by medical personnel.
Homicide investigators were summoned to the scene and assumed control of the investigation. Through the course of their investigation detectives were able to identify a suspect and obtain an arrest warrant.
On September 10, Toni Arnold, 31, was arrested and formally charged with the 1st Degree Murder of her mother, Sherry Birmingham. Yesterday, WMAR in Baltimore reported that police have not yet revealed a motive for the shooting.
Arnold is currently being held at Baltimore City’s Central Booking.
