Police in Baltimore have arrested and charged a local man they believe murdered two women.  In both cases, the women were both assaulted and died from their injuries.

On March 22, Denita Barrett, 21, was discovered unresponsive in her south Baltimore Westport home by a family member.  She was pronounced dead on the scene by responding medics.

That same week, on March 28, Ashley Lambert, 37, was found unresponsive and pronounced dead inside a motel room in the 6400 block of Pulaski Highway near Moravia Road in east Baltimore.

Homicide investigators identified 22-year-old Christopher Tyson as the suspect in both cases.

According to The Baltimore Sun, both women were strangled to death, dying from asphyxiation.

While investigating Lambert’s death, police used surveillance camera footage recovered near the motel and saw Lambert with an unidentified man. Investigators tracked the man’s movements to a nearby store, where police said they were able to identify him as Tyson while looking into a purchase he’d made with a Visa card.

On April 24, Tyson was arrested for the murder of Ashley Lambert and was also formally charged with the murder of Denita Barrett.  Tyson confessed to killing both women.

The Baltimore Police Department has released Tyson’s booking photo in the hopes that other possible assault victims recognize him and come forward.  Detectives have not ruled out the possibility that Tyson may have committed other assaults where the victim(s) may not have reported the incident.

Investigators urge anyone who may recognize Christopher Tyson as a suspect in any other incident, or who has information regarding his involvement with any other incident, to contact detectives in the Homicide Section by calling (410) 396-2100.

Callers that wish to remain anonymous should utilize the Metro Crime Stoppers tip-line at 1-866-7LOCK-UP. Metro Crime Stoppers callers may be eligible for a reward when submitting tips that lead to the arrest and or indictment of the suspect.
