Baltimore woman charged in the fatal shooting murder of her father

On January 21, the Baltimore Police Department announced the arrest of 37-year-old Shanelle Reed, who detectives say fatally shot and killed her father, 59-year-old Brian Reed.
Background: On January 18, at approximately 6:55 p.m., Baltimore Police Department (BPD) Officers responded to the 5600 block of Groveland Avenue in Northwest Baltimore in reference to a reported shooting. When BPD Officers arrived on the scene, they located Brian Reed, who was suffering from a gunshot wound. The elder Reed was transported to an area hospital for treatment, but was pronounced deceased a short time later.
Homicide Detectives responded to the scene and assumed control over the investigation. Their preliminary information revealed that there was a verbal dispute prior to the shooting. It was at that time that Shanelle Reed became a person of interest and was taken into custody at the scene.
As the case evolved, investigators learned that Shanelle Reed did indeed shoot her father during the course of that argument, a shooting that resulted in his death. After police transported the daughter to Baltimore City’s Central Booking Intake Facility, she was charged with her father’s first-degree murder.
Police ask that anyone with information related to this shooting to call detectives at (410) 396-2100. Those who wish to remain anonymous may utilize the Metro Crime Stoppers tip line, at 1-866-7LOCKUP.
