Ben Affleck returns as Batman for The Flash movie, Michael Keaton will also appear as The Bat
Batman fans were already excited about the upcoming Flash movie after Warner Bros. announced that Michael Keaton would be reprising his role as The Bat. And now, superhero fans are even more elated to hear that Ben Affleck will also be featured in that film, and also reprising his Batman role.
The Flash movie will be incorporating aspects of the Flashpoint storyline, where Barry Allen, aka The Flash, goes back into the past to save his mother from being murdered – and in the process creates a new timeline known as Flashpoint. One of the several Flashpoint storylines released over the years had Barry meeting up with a different version of Batman, which is where Keaton’s version of the Caped Crusader will probably appear.
Ben Affleck previously played the superhero in three movies and will feature alongside fellow previous Batman Michael Keaton in the DC Extended Universe movie, which is set within parallel universes.
The flick stars Ezra Miller in the titular role of Barry Allen and will be directed by Andy Muschietti, who confirmed that Ben would be returning to the role of Bruce Wayne and his crime-fighting alter-ego – having been replaced by Robert Pattinson in the upcoming ‘The Batman’. ~ MSN
Although many of us enjoyed Affleck’s version of the Dark Knight, problems arose when two of the films he starred in as the Bat (Batman v. Superman and Justice League) didn’t do as well at the box office as DC would have liked. Ezra Miller appeared in both of those films and had worked with Affleck while portraying the Flash. Affleck hung up his cape and cowl, only to return to shoot a few more scenes for a remake of Justice League (The Snyder Cut) which is slated to appear on HBO Max in 2021.
The director’s cut of the remake of Justice League will be a completely different movie than the one originally released in theaters.
As to why The Flash director Andy Muschietti wanted Affleck back as Batman in the Scarlet Speedster’s upcoming film, Muschietti said . . .
“He’s a very substantial part of the emotional impact of the movie. The interaction and relationship between Barry and Affleck’s Wayne will bring an emotional level that we haven’t seen before. It’s Barry’s movie, it’s Barry’s story, but their characters are more related than we think. They both lost their mothers to murder, and that’s one of the emotional vessels of the movie.
That’s where the Affleck Batman kicks in. I’m glad to be collaborating with someone who has been on both sides of the camera, too. He understands.” ~ Movieweb
The Flash movie starring at least two Batmen is scheduled to hit theaters on June 3, 2022.
