Beth Chapman remembered at Colorado funeral, eulogized by husband ‘Dog’ the Bounty Hunter
Beth Chapman’s funeral was live-streamed yesterday from Colorado. Following a two-year battle with throat cancer, the 51-year-old wife of “Dog” the Bounty Hunter succumbed to her illness and passed away on June 26.
Friends and family came together at her Aurora memorial service to celebrate her life and “remembered her as tough and irreverent, yet full of love even for some of the fugitives she helped apprehend,” according to the Hawaii Tribune Herald.
Prior to her passing, Beth lived with her family in her home state of Hawaii where she died surrounded by those that loved her at the Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. A separate funeral was held in her remembrance in Hawaii after she died.
Her loving husband, 66-year-old Duane Chapman, aka “Dog,” eulogized her through his tears.
“She was our lion tamer,” he said through tears. “She was so gorgeous. People would say that and she wouldn’t never believe it, but I told her all the time she is gorgeous, she was so pretty.”
“In the ’70s, I did 18 months in the Texas penitentiary and I told God yesterday I’d do five years, ten years day to day just to kiss her again. I never felt like this.”
“I walked through the closet the other day and I smell her. “Then this morning, I could smell her.” He said plans to leave the closet untouched.
“She lost a lot of weight, she was down to 119 [lbs],” Dog said of one of their last conversations. “She said, ‘Please Big Daddy, please let me go.’ I said, ‘No, I can’t. I’m not gonna let you go.’ I still haven’t let her go.” ~ Fox News
Dog and Beth married in 2006 but rose to fame earlier in the A&E reality TV show “Dog the Bounty Hunter,” which ran from 2004 – 2012. The famous criminal hunting couple later starred in a similarly themed show “Dog & Beth: On the Hunt” which ran on CMT from 2013 through 2015.
A new WGN series “Dog’s Most Wanted” starring the couple is still in the works to premier on TV in 2020. That series will most likely recount Beth’s death and then continue to air with only her husband. Following her death, WGN released a brief statement:
We are deeply saddened by the tragic news that Beth Chapman lost her battle with cancer. She was an exceptional woman, fiercely loyal and passionate about her family and she was a true joy to work with. All of us at WGN America will miss her tremendously. Our thoughts and prayers are with Duane, her family, loved ones and millions of fans.
You can see the teasers for WGN’s upcoming “Dog’s Most Wanted” series on the station’s website.
