On February 13, the University of Colorado Police Department (CUPD) issued a notice saying that they were looking for a missing student, 18-year-old Megan Trussell, who was last seen on Sunday, February 9 in her university dormitory.  Police provided a description of Megan, what she was wearing, when she was last seen, some photos, and contact information if anyone out there had any information regarding her whereabouts.

She was last seen wearing a blue/gray jacket, dark colored yoga-style pants and white platform sneakers. Based on information shared with CUPD, the last reported sighting of the student was Sunday, Feb. 9 in her residence hall. If you have seen Megan or have any information on her whereabouts, please contact CUPD at 303-492-6666 and reference CUPD case #2025-0291.

Yesterday, February 17, officials reported that they may have recovered Megan’s lifeless body in “hard-to-reach terrain,” according to Fox News.  CUPD received word from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office that City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks Rangers had recovered the remains of a deceased person matching Megan’s description Saturday morning near mile marker 40 in Boulder Canyon. CUPD is working to confirm additional details and will communicate those details as soon as more  information becomes available.

The Boulder County coroner will perform an autopsy to verify the person’s identity and determine the cause of death. And although we have not yet received the official word regarding the identity of the body found in that hard-to-reach terrain, Megan’s family said that “they have already accepted it is her.”
