Brothers on the run from Kentucky wanted for murder, found and arrested in Florida
Since September, law enforcement officials have been searching for two brothers accused of shooting and killing a woman on Betsy Lane in Fayette County, Kentucky. That shooting went down on September 8; and a second victim also showed up at the hospital that night with a gunshot wound, but survived, according to WKYT News. This past Tuesday, those two brothers were located and taken into custody in Florida.
On the afternoon of December 3, Florida’s Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office (O.C.S.O.) received an anonymous tip stating that brothers Brian (21) and Kevin (18) Marquez-Chavez, who were wanted in Kentucky for several charges including first-degree murder, were residing in a home in a rural area of Okeechobee County.
Surveillance confirmed the information received, leading to the issuance of a search warrant based on the warrant from Kentucky and probable cause to believe that the two suspects were inside the home. The O.C.S.O. SWAT and patrol units surrounded the house, and the suspects complied with instructions to exit. The two brothers were taken into custody without any incidents.
Both suspects are currently being held for extradition back to Kentucky, where they face charges of murder, attempted murder, wanton endangerment in the first degree, and criminal mischief in the first degree.
The Sheriff’s Office said that at no time was there ever any threat to the citizens of Okeechobee County. The two brothers are being held at the Okeechobee County Detention Center awaiting extradition to Fayette County, according to Fox 56 News.
