Cause of death revealed for Bobbie Jean Carter
(Updated) On February 14, news outlets in Tampa Bay announced that a cause of death had been revealed for Bobbie Jean Carter, who was the sister of singers Nick and Aaron Carter. The 41-year-old Carter was found unresponsive by her roommate in their Tampa, Florida, apartment on December 23, 2023. It was the roommate who dialed 911, according to ABC News in Tampa.
Carter died at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa shortly after being transported there by first responders.
In the autopsy report shared by the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner, it was determined that her official cause of death was the result of “intoxication by the combined effects of fentanyl and methamphetamine” from drug abuse. The manner in which she passed was listed as being accidental.
Carter had been diagnosed with schizophrenia, and the medical examiner also found propranolol (an anti-anxiety medication), omeprazole (which treats indigestion, heartburn and acid reflux), clindamycin (an antibiotic) and quetiapine (used to treat mental health conditions like schizophrenia) in her system, according to the report.
Her death came just over a year after brother Aaron Carter died in November 2022 at age 34, and 11 years after sister Leslie died in 2012 at age 25. ~ People
According to WFLA, Bobbie Jean co-starred on several episodes of the short-lived 2006 reality-TV series “House of Carters” which was centered on the lives of Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter and his four younger full siblings reuniting in Los Angeles, while Carter was gearing up for the Backstreet Boys’ sixth studio album. The show starred Nick, B.J., Leslie, Angel, and Aaron Carter, and ran for eight episodes.
At the time of her passing, Bobbie Jean was living in Tampa where she was employed as a server. Sadly, her brother Aaron Carter also died as a result of drug abuse and drowned in his bathtub at the age of 34 in 2022 after becoming incapacitated from taking Xanax and inhaling difluoroethane.
