On July 21, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) headquartered in Punta Gorda, Florida, reported receiving an allegation of domestic violence involving one of their detention staff members. That complaint came in on July 19.  An investigation was conducted by the CCSO Domestic Violence Unit, which resulted in the arrest of one of CCSO’s Corrections Deputies, identified as 22-year-old Dylan Landmark.

Landmark was taken into custody on July 20, and charged with Felony Domestic Battery.  He has been employed by the Sheriff’s Office since June 2020.

CCSO said that their office is launching a comprehensive internal investigation to thoroughly examine the incident. Currently, Landmark is being detained at the Charlotte County Jail and has been placed on Administrative Leave without pay.

“We are not above the law. In fact, I hold my staff to a higher set of standards, both sworn and civilian. As Sheriff of this county, my duty is to uphold the trust and safety of our community. When any member of our agency faces allegations that may breach that trust, we take it with utmost seriousness,” states Sheriff Bill Prummell.
