Wanted fugitive Luis Fernando Parada was arrested on October 11 at Fairgrounds Park in Hagerstown, Maryland.  Law enforcement had been searching for Parada who was wanted on a number of felony child sexual assault charges, including the 1st Degree Rape and 1st Degree Assault in connection with the sexual assaults of two young girls.  Complicating the search for the alleged predator, police said that they believed he was homeless but staying somewhere in the Hagerstown area.

Police also shared an earlier alert about their search for Parada and asked the public to call 911 or the Hagerstown Police Department if anyone had any information regarding his whereabouts.  Yesterday, police again went public to send out a huge “Thank You” to the community for sharing their original alert which prompted citizens to send in tips.

A tipster alerted us this morning (October 11) to Parada’s location, and a team of officers moved in to make the arrest. Parada was transported to police headquarters for questioning and will then be transported to the detention center for processing.

Police say that they are not aware of any other verified criminal events or sexual assaults in Parada’s past, “… but out of an abundance of caution, we are asking the public to come forward if they have any information or are potential victims of Parada. We ask that you contact Det. Vogel at dvogel@hagerstownpd.org”.
