Chris Christie uses Donald Trump’s mugshot in anti-Trump political ad
Chris Christie, former Trump loyalist and current Republican presidential candidate opposing Trump for the 2024 presidential nomination, is the first of all those campaigning for the GOP nomination to use Donald Trump’s recent Fulton County Sheriff’s Office mugshot in his own presidential campaign. The super PAC backing Christie employed that mugshot of the former president in one of his campaign ads that just hit the airwaves in New Hampshire. While Trump is using his mugshot to secure millions of dollars in donations for his own presidential campaign bid, Christie is using the mugshot in an anti-Trump campaign, according to NBC News.
The Tell It Like It Is super PAC ad opens with the following narration:
“Tired of the drama, the distractions, the lies? It’s time for conservatives to win again.”
“Chris Christie: A former prosecutor who convicted child pornographers, corrupt politicians. A successful blue-state governor, Christie took on the teachers union and won, turned around Jersey’s most violent city and got Democrats to cut taxes. A real conservative, Christie tells the truth and he’ll beat Joe Biden easily.”

Trump has taken to his personal social media page, Truth Social, and said that “Christie should DROP OUT OF THE RACE.” In a recent interview with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, Christie said:
“He only wishes I was going away,” adding that Trump was “obviously” watching as he criticized the former president on TV when he posted that message.
The Huffington Post shared a portion of Christie’s interview with Collins, below:
“I was laying out the truth about him,” adding that the “one thing he cannot stand” is when someone credible calls him out.
“He knows I’m not just some politician talking about his problems. I’m someone who’s done it, and done it well,” Christie said, noting his 130 wins and zero losses in prosecuting political corruption cases when he was a U.S. attorney.
“I know how deep his problems are, and how much they’re damaging both the Republican Party and the country,” Christie said. “I’m not getting out this race. Maybe he should think about getting out of the race since he’ll be spending most of March and half of April in a courtroom in Washington, D.C.”
That interview is available in its entirety on X.
In Trump’s Truth Social post hours before Christie’s CNN interview, the former president referred to the former governor as “Sloppy Chris Christie” and urged him to end his presidential campaign because “he is going nowhere and is very bad for the Republican Party.” ~ Newsweek
Countering, the former New Jersey Governor said that Trump should “think about” dropping out of the presidential race instead.
Christie is still far behind Trump in the polls. Although Christie was recently cited in one poll as being second in the current GOP race for the presidential nomination – and only one point ahead of Ron DeSantis – Trump still holds a commanding lead of 40 points.
