Cops arrest porch pirate trying to disguise himself by wearing women’s panties on his face
Porch pirates are a plague to mankind, especially during the holiday season when in the new millennium we’re all trying to keep track of the myriad of packages we’re busy sending, receiving and returning. Home surveillance systems have become “must-haves” in the 21st century – and have been a great help to homeowners and law enforcement in helping capture still images and videos of those invading our private spaces and stealing our stuff.

Sometimes those porch pirates go unidentified due to understanding that they might appear on a home surveillance system; and they take the necessary precautions to protect and conceal their identities – but some thieves either don’t care or aren’t so bright. On January 7, the Tulsa Police Department reported on the arrest of one of those thieve that fall into the latter category.
Tulsa police were made aware of a porch pirate case in a neighborhood near South Olympia and West 51st, according to ABC News Channel 8.
The Tulsa PD’s Riverside Division Street Crimes division was contacted about a porch pirate who had been hitting homes in the neighborhood around the 8100 S. Maybelle Avenue area. Police said that this particular thief did try to conceal his identity in an unusual manner – and one that was not particularly effective.
Police were provided homeowner surveillance images of the suspected porch pirate with additional assistance from the city’s Flock Security Camera System which helped locate the vehicle driven by the suspect.

After seeing those pictures, the suspected porch pirate was recognized by one of Tulsa’s Street Crimes Officers. Turns out, the thief had been involved in earlier porch pirate cases where he was wearing women’s underwear as a mask.
Tulsa Police went to the suspect’s home which is located near Admiral and S. Rosedale Avenues. Officers knocked on the door and saw their suspect, Spencer Gougler, inside the residence. But Gougler didn’t wish to speak with the police. He refused to answer the door and stayed inside the residence.
During the impasse, officers with the Gilcrease Division Impact Unit assisted with containing the house while a search warrant for the residence was obtained. After the warrant was signed, Gougler exited the home at the first announcement from officers.
Gougler was placed under arrest and booked on the following charges:
- Five counts of Larceny
- KCSP (Knowingly Concealing Stolen Property) and
- Grand Larceny
