Cops release sketch of 7-year-old Jazmine Barnes’ murderer
On January 3, law enforcement officials in Harris County, Texas, released an artist’s rendering of the man believed to be responsible for the horrific and cowardly shooting death of seven-year-old Jazmine Barnes who died when the shooter – described as a thin, white male with blue eyes, 30-40 years-old – pulled up alongside the car she was riding in last Sunday morning near Houston around 6:50 a.m. and sprayed her car with bullets. Jazmine was in the car with her mom and two sisters riding to a local store when the man driving what’s described as a red pickup truck fired shots into Jazmine’s mother’s car, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the man in the sketch and the red pickup truck.
Jazmine’s 15-year-old sister described the gunman to police as best as she could but said that she couldn’t tell what color the hair the gunman had because he was wearing a hoodie. Jazmine’s six-year-old sister was injured by car glass that shattered during the shooting.
Jazmine’s mother, LaPorsha Washington, 30, said she didn’t provoke the gunman in the red pickup in any way and that he just started shooting. The mom, who had to be hospitalized for a gunshot wound to her arm, also felt that the shooting was racially motivated. According to Fox News …
The gunfire shattered the mother’s driver’s side window, Washington told CNN affiliate KTRK. She said the truck’s driver then sped up to get in front of the family and continued shooting. Washington dived over her eldest child in the front passenger’s seat. “I didn’t provoke him in any kind of way,” the mother said.
The heartbroken mom said she was simply making an early morning coffee run with her three girls going along for the ride. Jazmine was still wearing her pajamas when the shooting happened.
As of this writing, almost 2,000 supporters have donated more than $52,000 to a GoFundMe account for Jazmine’s funeral expenses and family.
